About the project

Sunflower Park Secondary outfall is a project located in Hidalgo County Precinct No. 4. The scope of the project is to create a secondary outfall for the new Sunflower Park located at the northwest corner of SH 107 and Sunflower Road. It will also provide drainage relief to several rural residences and developments in the area. HCDD1 has created a detention area west of Sunflower Road, north of the park and a road crossing of Sunflower Road and east-west outfall ditch located approximately 1/2 mile north of SH 107 has been constructed by HCDD1 staff. The burrow ditch located on the west side of Donna Irrigation Main Canal has been re-shaped and cleaned from said ditch across SH 107 to the Min Drain I. The existing 60" pipe crossing at SH 107 was also cleaned of all debris. Plans were prepared by HCDD1 Engineering, and all construction was conducted by HCDD1 staff.

Land acquisition is being proposed north and south of SH 107 to widen the ditch into a bench system which will allow for a more efficient maintenance operation and create more storage capacity in the system.
